- Golden Crowned Sparrow.
Victoria
1938 On Oct. [October] 14 and for about a week
previously quite large numbers
of this species were migrating.
They had not been encountered
by me before that time + have
not been since.
The birds were very
secretive - remaining well
hidden in the thick brush
formed by spirea, briar + crabapple
along the beach at Saanich +
south to Wiers beach.
Stomach Analysis.
5150 A. 4 seeds
B. 4 seeds.
fine sand.

Saw several (6) Golden Crowns today
at the gravel pit. Mr [Kenneth] Racey
shot one.

Took a juv. [juvenile] Golden crown today.
Victoria B.C. [British Columbia] May 3, 1939.
Saw a singing [male symbol] in Beacon Hill
Park. Abundant on May 5.
Sept [September] 29/39 [1939] Ladysmith.
Several migrant picked up dead.
