Canoe B.C. [British Columbia] Auto Camp. June 29. 1937 5 a.m.
Border of Shuswap Lake. Shore lined with
Poplar, Cottonwood, Birch, + Willow. Saw the
following birds
Robin 3 pairs feeding young
Eastern Kingbirds 2
Bullock Oriole 2
Catbird 2 [male symbol] mimicking thrush song
Warbling Vireo 3
Chipping Sparrows 3
Pine Siskin 7
Cliff Swallow 3
Spotted Sandpiper 1 Rose from side of pathway + flew
to waters edge} [bracket around note]
Flicker 2. a nest of young, almost fledged. 6 ft
from ground in poplar. Opening 4 in [inch]
diam. [diameter] facing west} [bracket around note]
Nuchal Sapsucker 2 pairs, thought heard young
Trail [Traill] Flycatcher 2
Yellow Warbler 4 2/[male symbol] 2/[female symbol]. [male symbol]s singing.
Tree swallows 2
Left camp 8.40 a.m. + drove to rockslide
near Tappen where we secured five pikas
+ saw a Townsend Solitaire. Also noted two
Yellow footed Marmots, 2 chipmunks + a squirrel
in slide. Retd [Returned] to Salmon Arm for car repairs,
Engine completely dismantled + oil changed. Skinned
pikas in p.m. [evening] while waiting for car. Retd. [Returned] to Canoe
+ put up at same auto camp. Garage in
Salmon Arm is owned by Mr Shillman of Vernon
+ rep. [repair] end is leased by a Mr Duggan, a good
