  • Sciurus [underlined] Spider Island, B.C. [British Columbia] July 5, 1939 Saw one squirrel + took another on the shore of the lake. It was eating Jack pine cones when shot + piles of similar cone fragments showed these to be the usual diet Hunter Isl. [Island] July 10, 1939 Squirrel sign abundant. Kwakshua, Calvert Island. Squirrels abundant in the Jack pine + spruce bordering the muskegs. also in the muskegs themselves. Vancouver, B.C. [British Columbia] Nov [November] 5, 1940. Took [male symbol] Douglas Squirrel with a large epidermal tumor on point of left hip + two smaller ones at base of tail. Photographed this + sent glycerine material to New York.
