Good autumn buck range on
burn just above junction of
bighorn creek + Ashnola - west side
Mr Francis Richter bought pheasants
in Victoria + liberated them at Richter
Pass in 1885 Did not take
Ashnola Forks. May 14, 1950.
Worked south along the w. [west] side
of Ewarts Creek, crossed it about
3 miles from camp + proceeded
to make a careful study of
the lower parts of all slopes
on the sheep winter range
Saw 14 [female symbol], 3 yrl. [yearlings] 8 rams. 1 lamb
4 of 3 yrs [years], 3 of 2 yrs [years]
+ 1 older
Most of these probably seen 2 days
ago but they gave us the
breakdown of [male symbol]'s + [female symbol]'s in the
band not previously so segregated
The only sheep kill found of this
winter's origin was an 8 year
old ram apparently cougar killed
Found 2 ram skulls dead
2 years +/-.
