- July 15/65 [1965] Ellis Arm, in Seymour Inlet:-
Came over here this AM [morning] on the suggestion of
the Doles. En route saw 2 seals + the usual
assortment of alcids - One harbour porpoise.
Came through Seymour narrows about 30 minutes
before low slack, running some 4 knots!
Rounded to starboard and visited an old Indian
Village site Toaquos just S [south] of Holmes Point.
Appeals to me as a useful place for a serious
excavation, very large spruce now grow over
the earlier shell mounds.
Steller Jay. Bald eagle.
Junco (3 yng [young]) Pigeon Guillemot
Song Sparrows Orange Cr. [crowned] Warbler
Russet-b[backed]-thrush Arctic [word crossed out] Red throated Loons 7.
Chestnut-b[backed]-chickadee Common Loon.
Kingfisher Robin.
Yellow Warbler
In PM [evening] ran through narrows + back to Skull
cove on Bramham Isl. [Island] + in evening
toured the cove examining the large weed
covered Islet that is alleged to be an ancient
village site. There is certainly a lot of shell
mound material but no water + no beach for
canoes.
On the beach found fragments of a
Ziphiid including one good mandible + the 2
tusks, collected these.
