May 10/50 [1950] Princeton
Mr Gurr saw a very large
band of elk 2 miles up Whipsaw
creek in mid February this year;
says they wintered there.
Climbed Kennedy Mt [Mountain] to [Jim]
Lewis' ranch + found a great
abundance of elk sign from
last fall.
Went to Buckroth ranch +
Dickson ranch on top of
Hill N.W [northwest] of town. Lots of deer
sign + fresh elk sign in
abundance.
Blue + willow grouse very common
Plenty of deer west along highway
to Towers (1 mile W [west] of mine)
May 11/50. [1950] Princeton.
Jim Fairley saw 3 groups of
12 to 14 elk one day along
Burr Mine Road.
Lawrence Wells reports winter
yarding on Granite Creek. about
9 miles above Coleman, altitude
about 4000'
Elk reported to leave granite
Mt. [Mountain] at end of October. Come down
Bromley [?] Creek.
Counted deer down Hedley Road.
Deer have pulled out for higher bench
