Food:- Eating small purple vetch,
broad leaved saxifrage + grass.
In winter had been eating
balsam, spruce + cinquefoil
Kills:- 2 rams 5 years dead,
3 yearlings killed last winter.
Divide Cr. [Creek] Cabin. July 8/43 [1943].
Saw 6 sheep watering at mouth
of Tyrrel Creek - all ewes.
[James (Jim)] Simpson speaks of the 9000 ft [foot] grass
+ bluffs hill immediately W [west] of this cabin
as a fine ram range. Has seen
good bunches of rams on it in Aug. [August]
+ October. Has seen ewes + lambs
on hill E [east] of cabin. Last time he
saw rams here was in 1936.
Same local. July 9/43 [1943]
Movements:- [James (Jim)] Simpson last summer saw
a young ram at Lake Louise station
+ 2 days later at Bow Lake.
20 years ago +/- sheep used to range
on the E [east] side of Molar mt. [Mountain] but
do no do so now. McConnell
Creek + Martin Creek are now the
approximate western edge of sheep
range.
Anatomy:- The old ewe shot today had
interdigital glands fore + aft. Small
about 1/2 " long + perfectly tubular. Inter
ungnal ligament tight. Two mammae
