July 13/51 [1951]
Clipped another area on hill #2. but
this time clipped 500 sq [square] inches of wheat
grass clumps.
It weighs 332 gms [grams] dry 24 hrs. [hours]
260 gms [grams] dry 6 mos. [months]
Noticed that Amelanchier + Philadelphus
are heavily browsed at the base
but no animal line.
This band of sheep is about through
I'm afraid There is no suitable
winter range. The lake front
bluffs were open at one time but
they are now grown up to young
Douglas fir
Saw 2 coyotes + shot 2 bears
Vernon, B.C. [British Columbia] July 14/51. [1951]
Moved into Vernon + in the evening
went to Balsam Lake near Falkland fishing.
Pretty fair deer country about 2/3 way
up the hill. The area immediately
around the lake was a balsam-hermit
thrush assoc. [association]. Caught 12 fish between
us up to about 1 1/2 lbs [pounds].

Moved down here stopping in
Kelowna + Summerland. Had a long
session with Avery King. He is puzzled
to know where the game movement is
going + how best to place the sportsmen in
