- Translated transcription: Vébjörg jumps to her feet.
She longs to chase after the stranger, but dares not leave the dying boy; raising her clenched fists high she screams wildly after the killer:
“Hear me, you evil, evil warrior! I am Vébjörg, daughter of the chieftain Vermundr, and I shall revenge my foster-brother! You may rest assured that my weapon will someday mark you with scorn before all warriors. After this shameful deed I know well who you are, you are Starkaðr. I have heard of you, how you betrayed your lord, King Víkarr and slew him by sorcery!”
Then Vébjörg lets her hands fall, and stands there as if expecting an answer.
Only the strangers laughter is heard, as a mocking echo from far away.
