July 11. [1958] After a good night at the
Albany Hotel, Fordingbridge we
went over to the research station
where we spent the morning
just talking about research
problems + their results.
They are rather bogged down
in the maze of variables that
make interpretation of their
results most difficult
Lunch with Middleton
at the Beams 2 or 3 miles E. [east]
of Fordingbridge. After that
we drove down to Poole +
over the ferry to Sandbanks
Here we found an excellent beach
of very fine sand stretching for
miles along the coast. At one
point a barrier of rocks
had been laid down to
reduce shore [illegible word crossed out] movement.
Took 41 species of molluscs on the beach.
