Aug [August] 30. [1929] Kamloops B.C. [British Columbia]
The young mice taken
on Aug [August] 4. are still alive +
healthy. I have been feeding
them on Tomatoes, clover
apple, cheese, peanut butter,
melon seeds, berries, rolled
oats + brown bread. Of these
they like the bread least
+ the melon seeds most.
They extract the kernel very
expertly, though I'm sure
they never saw any seeds
resembling them before.
they just know by instinct
how to go about it.
They show no fear upon
seeing me near them, but
any sudden movement or
noise frightens them. They
have a peculiar half
singing, half whistling chirp
They are fascinated by a
light shone on them at
night.
