S. [Sorex] cinereus [underlined] + 1 S [Sorex] obscurus. [underlined]
Found several runways probably
made by shrews in the moss
along the shore of small lake.
Traps set there took nothing.
July 5, 1939
Took 5 Shrews, 3 S. [Sorex] cinereus [underlined] + 2 S. [Sorex] obscurus [underlined]
in traps set under mossy logs in
brush + in rock crannies along the
shore. McCabe took 8 in 100 traps
July 6, 1939.
Took 14 shrews. One large [female symbol] S. [Sorex] obscurus [underlined]
that was nursing young + one [female symbol] cinereus [underlined]
also nursing. All ad. [adult] males of the grey
pelaged shrews are strongly developed
sexually. The medium sized brown
[female symbol]'s are none of them sexually developed.

All the shrews on this island have
a strong rusty wash over the chin.
