Jasper. Sept [September] 2, 1945
Left Banff at 10:20 this morning + arrived
here at 4:50 this afternoon. Stopped
for lunch at mile 86. Stormy day
with intermittent sun + squalls.
Saw:- 3 moose
Tonquin Valley, Sept. [September] 3/45 [1945]
Left town at 7:45 + arrived at Cavell
Lookout at 8:30, packed + left there
at 9:15 arriving in here at 1:o'clock
Cloudy day becoming wet in late
afternoon. Light rain all night.
Saw 2 mule deer [female symbol]'s
1 caribou
Several Timberline, white crowned +
golden crowned sparrows.
Tonquin Sept 4/45 [1945]
Heavy rain + sleet all day kept us
close to home. We saw 2 cow
caribou one of which we collected.
Also a marmot + 2 Fox sparrows.
In evening easterly gale died +
was succeeded by westerly gale
with even heavier rain.

Fine with several light showers +
hail particularly around Amethyst Lake.
We hiked over to the warden cabin
then up toward Maccarib Pass, took
the creek coming from the base
of Mt [Mount] Majestic + followed it almost
