extended hunting season would

Suggest the possibility that the
Blood Indian reserve might be
used as an area upon which
elk killing could be carried out.
July 16/45 [1945] Waterton Lake.
Today went out to interview Mr
Bradshaw, Mr. W. Jenkins + Mr. H.D.
Riggall with regard to elk damage.
Messrs Bradshaw + Jenkins not in
Mrs Jenkins:- Elk do not trouble
them greatly. They have a seven acre
patch of oats for greenfeed + a small
group of elk (7-10) last year
kept it eaten right down, this
year 3 or 4 animals are keeping
up the good work. They are afraid of
what may happen if elk increase much
more.
Last sumer 2 bulls summered
20 miles east of Pincher Creek and
others at Glenwood. where some were
shot by local residents for doing
damage.
Mr [H.D.] Riggall reports many years of
struggle with elk. He came here 42 years
ago + saw no elk until in 1920-23
they began to enter the region from
