July 27/42 [1942]. Camp 6, Cowichan L. [Lake]
Anomalies [underlined] Loggers found a 3 legged fawn
apparently just a few days old but
healthy. They brought it to
camp + fed it diluted condensed
milk for 3 weeks during which
it became weaker + died.
Left hind leg was not present
skin over the part was black +
hairless. Rectum protruded on
the side without leg so that
tail could not cover it completely
Myasis of rectum was a
contributory cause of death.
Spec. [Specimen] #. Skeleton secured + exhibits
absence of left hind limb +
left innominate also structural
defect of transverse processes of
sacral vertebrae.
