- Westwick Lake Wednesday, June 8, 1955
Weather: fine
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] took some film, and saw
the Eastern Kingbird again. Nancy
waded through the marsh finding
blackbird nests and banding blackbirds.
She found a young, bald, baby coot
with a bright orange bill, and orange
down scattered over its head and wings.
I dug an irrigation ditch around the
garden, and watered it, did some
laundry, and patched a pair of waders.
Westwick Lake Thursday, June 9/55 [1955]
Weather: fine - scattered clouds
drifting across the sky.
Nancy and I got up at 5:00 AM and
bounced on Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] because he's
been blaming us for his sleeping
late. Nancy [Mahoney] went up Sorenson,
and I down Westwick. The grebes
were more active than usual, but
still weren't doing anything much.
I wrote letters all afternoon, checked
some violets, and made dinner.
While fixing up the tent this
morning, Nancy [Mahoney] and I discovered
that the mouse in the tent has
four little ones.
Tim [Miles Timothy Myres] tried to take some film,
and to put a recorder on
