Good passage from Rivers Inlet. Wound
our way through countless gill nets as far as
Cape Caution.
Birds + mammals seen en route
1 Sei whale.
2 Dalls Porpoise (Passat saw).
Rhinoceros auklet very many near Pine Isl. [Island]
Cassins [vireo] " " " " " [very many near Pine Island]
Tufted Puffin (no plumes) 1 " " " " [many near Pine Island]

July 14/65 [1965] In A.M. [morning] worked the low tide at Roller Bay
on Hope Isl. [Island] + in late P.M. [evening] went round to
the Indian Village on Hope Isl [Island] intending to
proceed down to Port Hardy for the evening.
Became fog bound + along with Kymie + Peggy
Dole of the "Katie Ford" found anchorage behind
the island W [west] of the village. About 4 fath [fathoms] of water
at the anchorage but the sill at the E [east] end is
shallow - about 1/2 fath [fathom] at 0 tide.
1 Sei whale working in [illegible word crossed out] Bates Passage.
