- May 22. [1932] Went up the old grade to just
past where it crosses the river.
A great deal of moose sign
along the grade where a bunch
of them had evidently wintered
Picked up a set of 4 pt [point] horns
+ a single fork horn.
Saw a rabbit + a Col. [Columbian] Sharp
tailed grouse.
Heard Townsend Solitaires singing
for the first time. They have
a real song.
Colony of pack rats in a
rocky outcropping
Almost walked on top of
a small black bear that
was eating some deer
offal where a man had shot
a doe that morning.
There were two embryos 18
in [inches] long. tail 2 in [inches] + perfect mule
deer tails. Color dark brown
on black lighter on side
+ legs, with 4 rows of white
spots down the back.
