Invermere. June 8/55. [1955]
Drove up here from Cranbrook this morning
arriving at noon. very fine day.
En route saw several Lewis Woodpeckers
and sparrow hawks but nothing much else
of interest.
One white tail doe two year old lay
beside the road, killed on the highway
She was not pregnant but had in the
right ovary a large, swollen vessicle [vesicle]
resembling a ripe follicle, the
left ovary was inactive. Glen Smith
saved the 2 ovaries but probably forgot
to fix them.
In the afternoon we visited the lower
part of Johnson Creek adjacent to the
old highway. Found a fawn whitetail
2 or 3 days old, a beautiful creature, much
redder than a black tail + with more
delicately mould features
