- July 22, 1936. Ootsa Lake, B.C. [British Columbia]
Spent most of today getting
rearranged in our cabin,
washing a large supply of
dirty clothes + in setting
out a long line of mouse
traps, mainly along the
edge of a meadow.
Found an abandoned farm
that has been taken over
by the Pack Rats + set
some (3) traps for them.
Picked up a rabbit skull,
caught a garter snake +
a small fish.
July 23 Ootsa Lake, B.C. [British Columbia]
The trapping last night
was good, 15 microtus, 2
Zapus + 2 Neotoma. The
microtus appear to be of two
different kinds differing mainly
in length of tail, but slightly also
in color.
The two Zapus were taken
in old brush piles surrounded
by long grass + weeds.
Took a single [male symbol] thrush, one
of a pair feeding young not
long out of the nest.
