Note great changes in Talbot lake
and all along road to Entrance.
Here most houses + damns are in
disrepair + abandonment. All close in
food is gone + all small willows
even are dead. Cannot tell yet
whether killing of willows etc is
due to flooding or browsing by
moose + elk.
Decoigne:- April 20/43 [1943]
Coyote killed a yearling not far
from wardens cabin in early morning
was disturbed + driven off. Examined
pelt.
Minnewanka Cabin. June 6/43 [1943]
Noted some cutting about 2 mi. [miles] E [east] of cabin.
Sawback L. [lake] July 2/43. [1943]
Saw 6 lodges on 40 mile creek +
an occupied lodge on Sawback Cr. [creek]
just below the canyon. Saw these
beaver - about 3 yr [year] olds. Feeding
on willow + a little spruce.
Divide Cr. [creek] Cabin. July 8/43 [1943]
Have seen beaver colonies as follows
Mouth of Wigmore Creek 1
Panther River 4
Creek between corners + Ranch 2.
Red Deer near Tyrrell Cr. [creek] 1 - all willow
eating colonies.
