Devona + Miette ranges. In the same
distance the train killed about 8.
[Frank] Borstrom [Burstrom] is skeptical that the coyotes
get many sheep + deer.
Tells me that the highest count of
sheep on the Miette Range between
Tunnel Mt [Mountain] + " cabin was 450 +/-.
Counted in autumn of 1945
Has seen no wolverine in this area

A fine day at last, the first since
the day before we left Cairn Cabin.
Rode up here from Devona - distance
12 miles.
From 3 miles above Devona all the
way to here the feed is outstanding.
Grass under the aspens is a condominance
of downy rye + pine grass. Fair
carry over. Little summer use - a
few elk + deer. The aspens show
light chawing + there is even some
young stuff - both aspen + poplar -
surviving.
Soap berry crop this year is almost
a total failure + bears are ranging
far + wide [Frank] Borstrom [Burstrom] saw 4 grizzlies

Examined the shale bank licks E [East] + w [west]
of the River. Both sheep + goat use them
in spring + fall + occassionally [occasionally] in summer
