- + took turkeys in the
daytime within a couple
of hundred yards from the
house. Some dung that
I examined contained
nothing but deer hair.
Skunks are common.
I found the den of one
under an old shack,
2 old ones + 2 young were
seen on the road by
M. Chetwind on or about Sept [September] 1. [1929]
On the 8th at 4 in the
afternoon I jumped a
young mule deer doe
in the cottonwood bottom
land along the river.
Birds of all sorts were
numerous. especially Junco's
Red-breasted Nuthatches, Clarke's
nutcrackers, magpie's crow's
Vesper sparrows + Sapsuckers.
I saw 2 hairy woodpeckers
+ a tanager + took 2 sharp
