  • 50 July 26/36 [1936] Ootsa. Took a [male symbol] Mustela rixosa - a new provincial record. Rain + high wind. July 27/36. [1936] 1 Peromyscus, 1 [female symbol] Sorex cinereus + 1 squirrel. Squirrels confined to spruce groves. Very few in pine + none in aspen. July 28/36. [1936] Still raining. [male symbol] Sorex cinereus, [male symbol] Peromyscus, mice very scarce this year. After breakfast took a run up to Shelfords about 6 mi [miles] west of Wistaria on the Nadina road. John Shelford tells me he found a least weasel dead in the meadow + trapped another last winter. Sent both to R.M.A. [Anderson] Has taken Neosorex in his muskrat traps. Examined burrows of marmota monax Reports a few M. [Marmota] caligata on the hills. He had specimens of Green-winged Teal, Pintail, Mallard, Bufflehead, Widgeon [wigeon], Pied-billed Grebe, Hawk Owl, Golden Eagle, Red throated loon (breeding plumage). Pacific Loon ad [adult] taken in fall.
