July 19/36. [1936] Big Eutsuk Lake.
Left Surel Creek this morning + ran
down lake to mouth of Pondosy Bay
on way we stopped at Fred
Knowles cabin in Grell Cove.
The timber opposite mouth of
Pondosy bay is mostly spruce with
some Abies amabilis [underlined] + some
jack pine.
Quite a bit of old beaver work
in a slough just back of beach.
Many of the points on Eutsuk have
these sloughs behind them +
they all showed past beaver work.
Crossbills, Bohem. [Bohemian] waxwings, + a
[male symbol] Harlequin seen.
July 20/36. [1936]
During the night the dog collected
some more Porky [Porcupine] quills. Saw
a spruce grouse. Spent most of
day storm bound but after
supper made run to portage -
crossed this in dark + ran down
Whitesail to head of river.
July 21/36. [1936] Ootsa Lake.
Made run from head of Whitesail
river to Ootsa
Saw Horned Owl, Osprey, 2 snipe on
Long Lake, 6 short billed gulls + a western grebe
1 moose a big bull.
