55 mi [miles] N.W. [northwest] Aklavik. June 25, 1947
On a lake near camp are 4 pairs of
these grebes in active + noisy courtship.
One pair already has a nest containing
2 eggs of which one was laid today.
Aklavik. July 21, 1947
A pair of grebe in #4 lake
at [Bert] Boxers have small downy
young. Saw one on the back of
each parent + in some way
maintaining their position even
through several dives.

in an attack upon a 3/4 grown
