Monashee Pass B.C. [British Columbia] June 28th 1937. Broke camp
+ left 10.15 a.m. arriving in Vernon at 12.20
p.m. Flora of western slope of range
quite different to eastern slope on which
we were camped. Spruce, Balsam. LP. [Lodge pole]
Pine still abundant, thickets denser + [illegible word crossed out] 8 or 10
five [word crossed out] miles from summit cedar became
very plentiful + a variety of "scotch-
cap" with very large blossoms very common
as well as red Indian Paint Brush + some
Tiger Lilys [Lilies] also Queens Cup (Clintonia uniflora). As we descended into the
upper transition zone the scotch cap
became more [word crossed out] dwarfed + everlasting
became very plentiful as well as
a species of tall dandelion with many
blooms at slack head. Honeysuckle also
in evidence.
Repaired car fender in Vernon +
left about 2 p.m. for Salmon Arm
via Armstrong + Enderby. Engine gave
trouble - overheating so made two trips to
garages. In late afternoon drove to rock
slides near Tappen. Only a few pikas
out as sun was off slides. Retd [Returned] to
Salmon Arm for dinner then [word crossed out] + had car
checked again at Imperial Garage.
Drove to Canoe. 7 mi. [miles] + put up at Auto
Camp whose proprietor is a Mr Preston.
Noted the following birds about camp
Oriole, Robin, Eastern Kingbird, Nuchal Sapsucker
+ as evening came on there were many
