20 +/- sheep seen in mid July around
the Columbia ice fields chalet.
23 +/- ewes lambs + [male symbol]'s seen on
Sulphur Mt. [Mount]

Licks:- Today took earth from lick at
2nd [second] lake - a surface lick in
wet ground. Sheep eat earth - moose
may use it too but I have never
seen them doing so. Some evidence
of slightly laxative effect but not
conclusive.
Lick at 6 mile in clay material just
below surface soil. No sign of
laxative effect.
Nigel Pass July 27/43 [1943]
Slim saw 8 sheep on the pass yesterday
Brazeau Basin: July 29/43 [1943]
On west facing slope about 5 miles up
river from camp located 19 adult rams.
They had been bedded on the open shale
above plant line but at 11:30 moved down into
a basin + fed + slept intermittently until
5 PM when they began feeding + playing.
During this period one brief fight - one
blow - took place between the master ram
+ another. He had an erection + was thus
apparently sexually active.
Two rams spent half an hour
