- fawn bleat.
Stepped into some stunted firs
+ watched. Spike + 18 mos [months] doe
walked out of swamp toward
me (in direction of lake, swamp
about dry) at 15 feet they crossed
my wind + jumped violently,
then stood testing the air +
looking. Finally caught scent
again + were off.
Old doe with fawn appeared,
looked in my direction + went
off. Then at least six other
deer broke back up the hill.
Apparently the general move
toward water had begun
just after sundown.
August 27. Dull day with strong west
wind slight precip [precipitation], barometer
steady.
2:32 Doe + fawn scented me +
bounded off up "Timber Ridge".
Fawn followed mother for
20-30 yards then hid, doe
continued to top of hill then
turned + looked backward
until I moved, she then
ran off. An 18 mos [months] doe that
saw me but did not scent
