- Chilean Skua. July 8. 1939
Today a was successful in obtaining a specimen
of a Chilean Skua. We were drifting on
the South East corner of the Goose Island banks
when a bird unfamiliar to me swooped past
as if to investigate the boat. I dropped him with
a load of shot + it turned out to be a Skua.
Upon examination of the stomach I found
it to be full of gooseneck barnacles which
grow commonly on all the drift kelp offshore
