- July 17/64. [1964] Left Monday Harbour + proceeded via
Black Fish Sound, Knight Inlet, Minstrel
Island, + Chatham Channel to anchorage
on Havannah channel behind
Indian Islands.
There went ashore + explored the
Indian fishing camp. Uninhabited any
more. Tide about 7! Joyce caught
several sole + lost gear to dogfish
Wind decreased at sundown. Very bad
no-see-ums + mosquitos.
Birds:- Brood of Amer. [American] Mergansers (10) in Chatham Channel.
July 18/64. [1964] Weighed Anchor at 06:00 after a disturbed
night. Foggy. Ran in fog as far as entrance
to Sunderland Channel then clearing. Proceeded
via Wellhorne Channel, Chancellor Channel +
Cardero Channel. On D'Arcy Point of
the mainland + opposite on Shelter Point [?], Thurlow
Isl. [Island] were Arbutus trees.
Many Marbled murrelets, no young.
2 young guillemots
Several flights of Surf + white
winged scoter males, all south bound
bonaparte gulls in all the channels
no young or winter plumage yet.
1 Arctic loon.
Arrived Refuge Cove at 16:45, sunny.
