Trumpeter Swan
Information rccd [received] from
Dr Naismith he had
seen a swan in a shack
at [Tom] Neiland's Camp. Aug. [August]/22
[Tom] Neiland saw him come
out of shack + mentioned
casually that there was
a swan there which had
been killed by an Indian.
On July 1st 5 p.m. went to
shack + seized the swan
which was found to be
stuffed with hay.
July 2nd 12 noon Met
Henry Horstman + inquired
of him if he knew anything
of the killing, he replied
