moss country. Got as far as Trounce
Inlet. Collected inverts. [invertebrates] + few vasc. [vascular] plants.
Saw about 4 adult bald eagles. At small
island west end of Maude I. [Island] found
2 oystercatcher nests (3 eggs each) next to
the salal vegetation, and 1 crows nest
on the ground under the salal with 3
young, about 4 days old.
Saw one coon [raccoon] on Maude.
Last night had 65 mouse + 6 coni-

2 peri [peromyscus] (1 testes enlarged), 1 shrew - all
skulls smashed.
Met [Atholl] Southerland [Sutherland] Brown + helicopter crew

Richardson - friendly + as usual, nothing new
to report. Used old campsite by Tlell bridge.
Did some fishing - enough for supper.
Some of "Ollie" Olsons white rabbits
(3)

our Conibear traps ready. Saw one
otter just opposite camp; took 2 shots
at it but it scampered up the bank.
Set 7 small + 2 large Conibear, 50
mouse traps around camp. Wilf [Schofield]
has pointed out numerous willow trees
en route - possibly all introduced. Mike [Bigg]
+ I concede airwick is needed for G.T.
