- May 20. [1932] Worked down river from Camp
felled another tree from the
far side to the central bar. Made
a raft + crossed the river. Worked
all the bars + banks for a mile
or so downstream
Squirrels common.
Sharp shin hawk. Western Tanager
small flycatcher, Kingfisher
Red tail Hawk, Spotted Sandpiper.
Deer:- Eating mainly Hazel,
Saskatoon berry + "Dogwood" tips
during the winter, moose
eating same. Bushes of these
all browsed down.
Black bear :- a 2 year old
bear suddenly appeared about
250 yards away on the river
of the southern cliff. I missed
him.
May 20. [1932] Rained hard all morning so we
stayed in bed. In afternoon
dug a hole on flat near camp
with no results. Then crossed
river + prospected up far side
to carry on.
