- Synaptomys cont. [continued]. Yeo Island. Aug [August] 4 + 5.[1939]
I trapped three Synaptomys on Yeo I. [Island] at
Wigham cove. These mice were found in a
small belt of grass + sedges that surrounded
a small bay about sixty - (60) feet across
+ fifty (50) feet in depth. the edges of the
by [word crossed out] bay were very [word crossed out] gently sloping + not rocky
so that the trees + moss grew right down
close to the water + separated from high tide
mark by this small green belt about ten or
fifteen feet wide. All through this small
zone of pasture there were small microtine
runs + an abundance of short cuttings of the
coarser sedges. By setting traps on these
piles of cuttings + in the runways I succeeded
in catching three animals two adults +
one juvenile. (see field catalogue no's [numbers]
435-6-7.).

Found sign similar to Yeo I. [Island] but did not succeed
in catching any Synap's [Synaptomys].
