- Feb 9 Tuesday (Shrove) Went by car to various recommended flats – Castagnola, Mascagno, Paradiso etc & even had a look at Gandria – but nothing. So took the halfhouse we nearly took yesterday. Villa Guidi, an ex-Milanese palace. Signora Poggi – her son, an advocate & art-critic – Italian & has a feeling for cats & alt old fashioned things. 150 francs a month. On way to Gandria L said dangerous road. “No, safe road, dangerous view.” Carnival – saw children's scooter race in Plaza. Again in Town at night. Dancing in square to Swiss music. Helping Laura late with Troy Index of Characters.
