- Jan 29th Friday. No work all day: three letters. Laura to dentist: gas: brought her back. Martha Smith to lunch & stayed till 4. Forgot dentist appointment. Honor. Journalist racket broken down. Thinking up jobs for her. Mais Joyce. James, Mary, Maisie, Honor to supper. Talking after until 11.30. At supper Maisie just back from Spoken English conference at B.B.C. made rather official pronouncements. Alan & Woolworth: long night-telegram necessary. We have got through £200 in 3 weeks somehow. A little Epilogue in early morning.
