Transcript
  • Oct 31 Sunday Last night L & I talked late: I decided to write a book about her. In the morning went for a walk with Len & Jane in grounds of Chiswick House. Len gave us his Book Way to read. Some work on 2 specimen chapters of Belisarius for Random House. Laura & I checking Alan's Auden-plagiarisms article. Dropped 2 shillings in Norman's money box for Vera Hankisson & Michael Ross. (M.R. came canvassing & stopped to hint for money for an art show). Beryl & Alan to tea: made out a list of 16 good minds & several doubtfuls. Supper at Len & Jane's: Betty Noxon too. Len showed me 'Dibpou' a dice-game & we played thread-puff. Fighting a headache due to wearing London clothes.
