Rykerts Custom House
A group of people standing outside a small wooden building. In 1883, John C. Rykert established a Canadian customs station immediately north of the border to intercept steamboats and other river traffic sailing from Bonners Ferry to Kootenay Lake. Photo's caption reads "Rykerts Custom House. Group of prospectors waiting to go thru customs. Boats tied up in front of customs. Highest bldg in rear group is now incorporated in present house at Rykerts."
