- Aug 27 Friday. Children left by car with Harry & Alix: Alix going to Germany where her father is dying. Harry staying in London for the night. Laura & I went to London by train, lunched with Honor at Escargot : talked over the problem of H.'s dumbness toward her. Bought pyjamas; complained of wearing-out of my flannel trousers at Allen's, Laura bought day-gowns, we wandered about, missed seeing Len: Nada . Allen xarrived by an earlier xtrain than we arrived back by.
