- May 1 Wednesday Rose 6.30. Letter to Gordon asking him to bring Gamage boat, cheque to Gamage for boat. Letter to Dr Brown Philadelphia about Claudius , Xenophon, homeopathy. Cable to List [Verlag] agreeing provided they apply for permission to send money & give me proof of having sent it. To Barker informing of cable. C.F.V. all morning. Afternoon walk to Moorish Castle via Ca'n Cat C'an Quet and back by Son Ripoll: investigated caves there. Strenge & Carl coolness over. In evening came Ferres & Kurtz, & he talked communism, hard, against Laura. Blamed England's wavering policy. Battered away – I was very sleepy & mixed my drinks, felt sick, had to go to bed.
