- Aug 18 Sunday. Rained a bit in the night. Cold cloudy morning. Laura & I went to village. Laura talked about talk in café about our money, & about Antonia talking to Isabel: & we think earned Antonia a beating. Then home. I did work on Poets . At 4.30, inauguration of Sala with ices & champagne. (Laura wearing her John Ewen dress) Went over James's proof corrections. Nice letter from Honor. The first dance at the Sala. Lots of people & popular success. On return did 1/2 of [Chapter] VIII Almost Forgotten Times
