- Feb 6 Saturday More dull travelling, uncomfortable night (no sleepers) in train. No customs troubles. Arrived at 2.30. Missed Schw & Strenge & had difficulty in finding them. Affectionate greeting. They suggested Hotel Belle Rive-Ziepert , 10 francs a day (21 to £) Coffee with them & talk of Deyá etc. L. K. & I by taxi to centre of town. (Carnival on) Quite nice but looks expensive. Wagon Lits man prepared us for expense: said that there was a lot of underground tension owing to rise of prices, but political combinations not articulate.
