On two occassions [occasions] the buck
made an attempt to mount
the doe [word crossed out] larger doe. On each
she jumped away. He smelled
the genital region of the younger
doe on one occassion [occasion] but she
did not avoid him + he made
no further advances.
They located acorns by smell
+ seemed to be able to detect
them only from a distance of
not over 4 inches. One of the
does ate the husks, the young
buck ejected them after about
20-40 seconds chewing.
The neck of the young buck
is on this date slightly swollen.
