Phillips, Barry J.: my Army recollections (March 7, 2012)
ABSTRACT: First I started my interview with the date and the person that I was interviewing, in this case Barry Phillips. After, I asked his permission to record the interview and I asked him to give me a basic introduction about himself and his military career. Following that, we moved on to the Yugoslav war. Lcol Phillips gave me a brief introduction about the beginning of the war, and he told me that he was deployed in Yugoslavia as part of a Canadian UN Logistics Battalion. He continued the interview in telling me about the UN rules of engagement, followed by the events from the Medak Pocket. He carried on by telling me about the everyday life in Yugoslavia, and the times he was fired upon . I carried on my interview by asking him about the relationship of the Canadian soldiers with the different ethnics of Yugoslavia and I also asked him about the mine removal operations. Later he told me about the disagreements between Canadian and the French UN forces and at the end of the interview I asked Lcol Phillips how was the life after he returned to Canada.
