Prison news service - No. 25
The Prison News Network (PNS) focuses on political trials, repressive abuses of imprisonment and the resistance to such oppression. It was joined with another existing prison periodical called Marionette made by prisoners for prisoners and the general public to spread awareness of the conditions prisons, Marion Penitentiary, Illinois in particular.

Article topics include: Standoff continues between the Warriors of the Mohawk nation and the Quebec Provincial Politice (QPP) at two Mohawk territories near Montreal (Kanesatake and Oka) ("Quebec police lay siege to Mohawk community", by Jim Campbell) -- Report on Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and Earth First! (EF) leaders Judi Bari and Darryl Cherney, who were organizing Redwood Summer, being wounded by a bomb, and subsequent blaming of the victims ("Can't stop the seasons") -- Dept. of Corrections director Michael Francke's murder may be linked to an organized criminal element within the DOC ("Did DOC employees murder Michael Francke?") -- U.S. Justice Dept. Deputy Attorney General Donald Ayers and his assistant Peter Nawinski have resigned ("The class of justice") -- "Women prisoners in Iowa file suit against abuses" -- A wave of concern for human rights is sweeping the globe ("Freedom Now! for political prisoners and POWs in the U.S.") -- Freedom Now! Campaign for Amnesty and Human Rights for Political Prisoners -- "Defend Mumia abu-Jamal" -- The hungerstrike in Spain by members of GRAPO (Oct. 1st Revolutionary Anti-fascist Group) has resulted in its first death ("Hungerstrike in Spain continues: one prisoner dies!")
