- May 23 [1932] Prospected up to S [south] bend in
river half way through canyon
There was a great deal of
very old beaver work there,
the old [word crossed out] whole point that is
now covered with young
Douglas Fir (15 years or so) was
at one time covered by a fairly
heavy growth of Birch as represented
by the beaver cut stumps.
Saw Long eared Owls + First
nighthawk of the season.
Saw 2 more mule deer does
at the lick near camp. They
come there at appr. [approximately] 7:30
each evening. The yng [young] fawn
described yesterday had black
muzzle, cinnamon sides to
nose, chestnut top of head
6 incisors developing + 4
premolars on each jaw
making a milk dentition
of 22 teeth.
