- July 2. [1939] Left Namu at approx [approximately] 3.30 saw
some Harbor Porpoise at the entrance of
Nalan arrived Spider [Island] + made camp by
nightfall.
July 3. [1939] Explored parts of Spider, circum-
navigating same. Dr [Ian McTaggart] Cowan + I explored
small lake on Island + found Loons present
also some small white water lilies in bloom
July 4. [1939] No mammals in traps. Most of
day spent in chores. Found fresh deer sign
on north end of Spider.
July 8. [1939] Made trip to North East Corner of Goose
I [Island] banks saw the following.
Albatross. Sooty Shearwater - Flesh footed
Shearwater, Northern Phalarope, Cassins + Rhino [Rhinoceros] Auklets
Fork Tailed Petrels, Tufted puffin Glaucous-wing [Glaucous-winged] Gull
Chilean Skua.
Also saw numerous basking Sharks one porpoise
and one small shark. Cohoes numerous.
