  • Map of Exhibition Across the Library’s front area, the exhibition proceeds as follows: Section A introduces the exhibition. Section B presents selected original panels from Claire Heffernan’s (BA, Political Science) 1992 exhibit, A History of the Gordon Head Campus Land from 11,000 B.C. to 1970. Section 1 is the video screen playing Locating Libraries in and on the Land (2025). This is an effort by UVic Libraries to advance concepts expressed in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, including the rejection of the idea of terra nullius and the Doctrine of Discovery. Section 2 is a permanent installation entitled Treaty Relations in the Salish Sea (2025). Section C highlights the work of CICR: UVic Research Assistants. Section D highlights the work of Indigenous and non-Indigenous students, staff, faculty, and administration in addressing the coloniality of the University of Victoria. Section E shares scholarly resources and other relevant information. * How can members of university communities address colonial injustices? * What are the responsibilities of universities in advancing ethical relations between colonial and Indigenous governments and peoples? * What are the responsibilities of universities in relation to global powers and structures that harm Indigenous and other oppressed peoples?
