- Canis latrans
May 6.
Found freshly used den on small
ridge overlooking Talbot Lake near where
I saw the gulls. Placed stick across entrance.
Devona. May 8/44 [1944]
Examined a dead mangy coyote.
Almost all its fur is missing
+ the entire skin is covered with
a scabby, scaly scruff. An eagle was
eating the carcass when I found it.
Miette. May 10, 1944
Examined a [male symbol] + [female symbol] coyote killed by
Burstrom this morning both were
fairly large individuals but were
apparently only yearlings. The testes
on the dog were smaller than those
on a fox terrier + the [female symbol] was
not pregnant + had not bred.
Food:- [female symbol] contained deer offal + 1 Microtus
drummondi [underlined]
[male symbol] contained 1 Microtus drummondi [underlined]
Parasites: No stomach worms but great numbers
of tape worms in small intestine.
Food Pellet - ad [adult] sheep probably offal. May 10 -
